Viticulture in Moldova
Viticulture in Moldova has a long history as wine has been produced here for about 5,000 years. Most of the grapes are white (about 70 per cent). There are gigantic wine cellars in the country. The ones in Cricova are 60 km (!) long, the longest in the world. A collection of Hermann Göring wines that were brought to Moldova by the Russians after WWII, are stored here.
The Pinot Grigio comes from vineyards in Central Moldova and is produced by the Bostavan winery. This house owns 600 hectares of vineyards in the central and southern part of the country. The vineyards are mostly planted with the well-known international varieties.
This Moldovan Pinot Grigio is sparkling, has power and is slightly aromatic. Correctly made. A wine that will appeal to many and stands up for wines from Moldova!
