Grand Maestro Italiano Governo All'Uso Toscano IGT

Italian perfection under the cork! This Governo All’Uso is made from partially dried grapes, which ensures a sensationally rich and concentrated wine full of cherries and black currant, richer than many expensive Amarone. “Very admirable and harmonious” says Italian wine guru Luca Maroni who gives this wine his maximum score of 99 points. “One of the best wines of the year. Hat off!”

A sensational deep dark-red colour with a purple rim. A seductive aroma with perfectly ripe fruit such as cherries, black currant and raisins that are masterfully blended together with a lace of leather and covered with a layer of chocolate. Full, elegant and silky in taste with a mouth full of cherries, black currant, ripe plums, dark chocolate, pepper and a hint of vanilla. A beautiful wine full of expression and depth. Sublime and almost magical!

Governo All’Uso

99 points by Luca Maroni rightly give this beautiful Tuscan specimen a place in the famous Annuario dei Migliori Vini Italiani, the wine bible of the very best Italian wines. This Grand Maestro owes it all to the use of the age-old Tuscan wine technology Governo All’Uso.

The trick is to let the grape ripen on the cane as long as possible. Part of the late harvest is immediately processed into wine in the cellar, another part of the harvest is put to dry on special mats. The dried and particularly concentrated grapes are added later to the wine that has already been fermented. This results in a second fermentation, after which the wine matures for six months in oak barrels and is then placed in bottle for a few months.

This age-old method results in a powerful and concentrated wine. Sensationally rich and velvety in taste with fruit tones that are more vivid than the wines made entirely from dried grapes. Luca Maroni takes his hat off. And we do that too. With a deep bow.
