Nativ Rue 333 DOCG Taurasi “from 100-year old vines”

From the sensational Nativ winery, Rue 333 thrills!

Luca Maroni, the Robert Parker of Italy, assessed the wine with 95/100 points! For Italy lovers, Nativ is a must! Rue 333 has the clear signature of the Aglianico grape, but is slightly more sophisticated than the Hermitage. Rare and concentrated wine from 100-year old vines. Recommended!

Impressive massive hot red/black colour. Rich and seductive aroma with dark berry fruit, cocoa, currant and sultry Italian herbs. Unctuous and soft flavoured liquid blueberries, blackberry liqueur, cocoa and mocha. Enormously rich and endless. Aged for 24 months in French oak barrels followed by 12 months in bottle.

The wine comes from a small plot of only 5 hectares with 100-year old vines! This rare old vines give only a few sips of wine, however the most intensely rich kind in Italy. The grapes were harvested by hand and carefully transported to the cellar in small crates so that the harvest went intact into the fermenting container. The traditional fermentation of three weeks was followed by 24-month maturation in oak barrels and further 12 months in bottle.

The best red wine from Italy

The Nativ winery was founded in 2008 by Mario Ecolino. It is located in the southern Italian region of Campania on the hills of Paternopoli. Here, the mineral rich volcanic soil nurtures the black grapes of AgIanico that give extremely powerful and rich wines of superb quality. Culminating in Nativ 2012 from 200-year old vines, which received 99/100 points (!) by a leading Italian wine critic Luca Maroni and was named best red wine of Italy!

The wine is made from the Aglianico variety with black skin. Aglianico, along with Nebbiolo and Sangiovese are the three noble grape varieties of Italy. The grape is known for powerful, intense wines that after some years develop a huge complexity with a deep warm-spicy character. Because of this excellent structure and complexity, these wines are called “Barolo of the South”.

Taurasi/Irpina Campi Taurasini is an ancient wine region dating back to 800 BC. It is located 50 km north-east of Naples in the wine region of Campania. The vineyards lie at an altitude of more than 400 metres, on volcanic soils at the foothills of Vesuvio.
