Niedermann Müller-Thurgau Lieblich
Fine German Müller-Thurgau
The reputation of German wines shows a spectacular rise. This wonderful slightly sweet white wine from Rheinhessen is another good example of sublime quality from Germany. With low alcohol content and the slight sweetness in the taste, this is an irresistibly tasty wine, a wonderful friend for any occasion. Zum wohl!
Sophisticated wine with a floral bouquet. Gorgeous bright yellow colour and pleasant aromas of juicy apples and refreshing citrus. The taste is extremely friendly, slightly sweet and rich in fruit.
Müller-Thurgau can be found in almost all German wine-growing regions. It is best represented in Rheinhessen, followed by Baden, Pfalz, Franken, Mosel and Nahe. It owes its existence to Professor Hermann Müller from the Swiss canton of Thurgau. He developed this grape in Forschungsanstalt für Garten- und Weinbau (Research Institute of Horticulture and Viticulture) in Geisenheim. For a long time it was thought that the grape was a cross between Riesling and Sylvaner, thus it received the abbreviated name Rivaner. However, the research has shown that it is a cross between Riesling and Madeleine Royale.
Besides Riesling, Müller-Thurgau is the most important and most widely planted grape variety in Germany. It owes its success to the many uses and accessibility for novice wine lovers. Wines made from this grape are juicy, fresh and floral and have distinctive fruity aroma of nutmeg. They are the best when young and certainly should not be kept for too long.
